Hi everyone, I'm new to this board.

I can usually convert my Mkv files to Avi with no problems, but one particular file has been driving me crazy for the last couple of days now.

I used Mkvgui to seperate the file into an Avi and a AC3 track. However when I join the two using VirtualDub or AVI-Mux Gui, the sound is slightly out of sync.

I traced the problem down to a 'Timecode' file which was also stored within the Mkv shell. Can someone please tell me if there is any way I can create an Avi that takes the timecode into consideration?

    The timecode reads...

    # timecode format v1
    Assume 23.976
    0,59,29.97

    Thanks for your time.

Not possible as unlike mkv, avi is CFR only. You need to convert your video from VFR to CFR, although from the looks of your time code file it is just the first 59 frames that are a different framerate.

Hmm....thats quite likely since the audio lag is only about 0.5 seconds, but its annoying nonetheless.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I'll just snip off the first 59 frames since it only shows the company logo, or better still I'll put a delay in the audio.

However, just for future reference..is there a way to convert my video from VFR to CFR, without quality loss?

No. Frame rate conversions can be tricky. Plus you have to re-encode at least part of it.

Hmm....looks like I'm back to square one :S. I found out that 'Avisynth' has produced a way to convert VFR to CFR, but at this point its too complicated for me to understand.
