  1. Is there any good editing software that is easy for newbies to do all of the following:

-Cut out parts of video that not wanted

    -Join files together

-Edit in a bunch of clips into a new video file if i'm interested in creating one

-will work with avi, mpeg, wmv and popular formats?

anything that can do all of this, and hell, if it's easy enough for a newbie to learn, then even more.....don't care if it's something like ulead etc....what would you guys recommend?

    thank you!

Keep in mind that Windows Movie Maker can not be un-installed once installed and it will probably require some fixes in order to keep it from crashing.

For WMM you want at least v2.
    v2.1 is part of SP2.

Tell us what formats you want to edit and what you are willing to spent in $ and learning curve time for higher end programs.

  9. You can try avidemux 2. Don't know if it has all the functionality.
