Hi all, When I play any DVD in WMP10 I either get the "copyright" error, or, if the DVD does play, it plays with no sound. All DVD's play ok using powerdvd 6.0 deluxe edition. Any suggestions?

    Cheers

Dont't use WMP. It's been good for nothing since v 6.(Windows doesn't support DVD playback out of the box)

WMP relies on codecs installed from other sources*. MPeg2 and AC-3 codecs require royalty payment per machine. WMP is free and hence comes as a blank slate. Install codecs from other packages and you will find WMP suddenly functional.

    * usually MPeg2 and AC-3 decoders are packaged with new computers and/or DVD-ROM or DVD writers.

thanks edDV, and that is what puzzles me! I have all of the neccesary codecs installed. Two things happened when i "upgraded"?? ( is it an upgrade? lol ) to wmp 10. One is the dvd playback issues as discussed, the other is that wmp 10 no longer plays downloading mpegs "on the fly" ie during the download, which all other versions of wmp seemed to do.
    Cheers
