One thing you can easily do is disable the menu buttons with PgcEdit (it has a great menu editor). BUT, your background will remain the same so you'll still see the background of the buttons.
If you want to change that, it's a lot more involved because you have to save the background as a bitmap, edit it in something like photoshop to remove some of the buttons, then mux it back in. It's easier if your menu is a still menu, harder it it isn't. I'm not sure there are guides for that though.

Just how do you extract the menus?
I don't mind working in photoshop.
Thanks,

Assuming a still menu (one that does not have motion), you have to take a snapshot using for example PowerDVD, or PgcEdit (the preview has a "save bmp"). That will save an image of the menu (without the highlights of course). That's what you'd have to work with in photoshop. Then put that back into the menu, which means remuxing the image, the subs (for the highlights) and possibly the audio into a new menu.
Look for guides for this kind of stuff, I'm sure people have done it...
here is a guide that shows you how to replace a motion menu with a still menu. You can use essentially the same steps to do what you want... Takes a while though...

If the menu is a still, try this guide: http://dvdguides.netgeekhosting.com/guides/edit_menu/ it works real well. I also use this guide when I want to remove the button functionality of a motion menu. However, You cant remove the button text with a motion menu, only a still. There may be guides for doing that with motion menus, but I havent found any. If you have, let me know.
