Hi, i have an Aiwa XD-DW5 DVD Player, and i was wondering something about the region hacks posted on this site.

    https://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks.php?select=Aiwa+XD-DW5

    1. Are these hacks tested? will they ruin my player?

    2. it says "Region code or Macrovision hack" what does it mean by macrovision hack? like if i enter the region code, it removes macrovision?

    3. if i apply this code, will it allow my dvd player to play dvd+/-r's?

    thanks

I don't have your player, but I should be able to answer your questions.
    1) If the hack involves pushing some buttons on a remote control, there should be no risk of damage to your player. If the hack involves installing firmware, yes, there is a risk of damage if you do something wrong and don't follow the instructions.
    2) Macrovision hack means that the hack removes Macrovision from the video output. Region code means the hack removes region code checking. Some players only have hacks for one of these, some have hacks for both. Many players have hacks for neither.
    3) No hack will change the ability of your player to play DVD+/-R discs. That depends on the laser inside and can't be changed by a hack.
