We have an older 8mm Camcorder from around 91 and was wondering if I got a Digital Hi8 Camera w/ firewire.. could I transfer the old non digital tapes to on my computer as DV? I copied them all to VHS a few summers ago, but the quality is crap, so I thought of this as an option.
Anyone know if it is possible to do that?

Digital8* will play your 8mm or Hi8 tapes and realtime convert to DV over IEEE-1394.
*No such thing as "Digital Hi8" -

I will recomend getting a DVD-Recorded and create DVD's directly from your tapes. It will be a lot faster and the quality will be just fine.
