I am trying to play a Sky TV HD test transmission posted on the website below:

    site URL: http://www.giusberto.ch/hdtv/

    file URL: http://www.giusberto.ch/hdtv/sky_720p_test.ts

    Format H264 transport stream.

I have tried VLC - I get the audio, but only several still frames for the video.

VLC gives the error ffmpeg: more than 5 seconds of late video -> dropping frame (computer too slow ?)

    I am using a PowerMac G4 1.25 GHz DP G4 with 1.5 GB RAM
I have also tried an iMac G5 1.8 GHz.

    No luck.

I tried to convert with Mpegstreamclip, but the program just hangs when I open the transport stream.

I have tried to convert with ffmpegx but I just get errors.

    Any ideas?

VLC plays it on my Windows XP platform, also Windows Media Player and ATI MMC.

Need a fast machine to play without studder.

Umm, what spec machine do you have?

I would of thought my 1.25GHz dual processor PowerMac should have been able to handle it, it plays Apples H264 HD quicktime trailers fine.

Maybe this is an optimisation issue as the x264 codec used by VLC is in early development, whereas Apple's H264 is no doubt more mature and optimised for the PowerPC, but quicktime does not play transport streams.

Anyone able to play the file on their Mac?

    Thanks for any info.
