I just updated my Pinnacle Studio 8 to version 9. I noticed that when I first got into Studio 9, the color defaults for capture had all been reset to the middle, or "0" poisition, except for the sharpness control, which was set very high. However, if I remember correctly Studio 8 had originally come set up with all the controls set flat.
I noticed a similar pattern in VirtualDub 1.6.5. If I go to Capture AVI, Video, Capture Filter, Video ProAmp, all the color controls are set at the middle position of "128", while sharpness is set higher at "200".
I called Pinnacle Support about this, and the guy told me that the sharpness increase was an abnormality, and that everything was truly flat on his Studio 9 (the correct setting). Due to some recent experiences, however, I can't always trust what tech support says.
I've had various video editing and capture programs on my computer, so I'm thinking maybe something is screwing up the settings here. Can anyone tell me what the true default, "as-is" color settings should be?
I've done some tests with various sharpness settings, but I can't really see much difference either way. But then again, I'm no expert. I do not want to alter anything. I just want to capture my videos the way they were intended. Please help me. Thanks a lot.
