  1. I'm looking for a software DVD player (for Windows, ideally) that is dual-monitor capable - I would like to have the controls on one monitor and the dvd footage played out on the other.

Or if aonyone else has any alternative suggestions as to how I can play DVD media from a computer to a video projector without the mouse cursor and menus/controls being visible on the big screen, I'm all ears.
I collect photographs of lost gloves.

  2. Most graphics cards have a dual output mode where the secondary output can be used in "theater mode". This sends only the media player's picture to the secondary monitor. Just about any media player will work in that sort of setup.

I've only used this with composite and s-video. I don't know if you can use it for HD.

If you set up HDTV as a dual output*, it will work the same way but for DVD playback, you would set it for 480p (native 720x480 playback) or you could output at 720p or 1080i with the card upscaling. Results depend on the monitor and personal choice. I like native 480p out and let the TV upscale.

*typical ATI setup would be a dual output DVI-I or VGA card with the ATI component analog HDTV adapter on the second output. See the ATI site for models that will work this way.
