    I installed this program but I keep seeing "smc not responding" in the Windows task box. The program seems to be running. It updates itself and reports port scan attacks. SMC is the programs exe file. Is it really working?
    The not responding comes up as soon as I go online.

    You should scan your machine for viruses, preferably in Safe Mode. You might have Sasser. Just a hunch. I've been wrong many times before.

    I see that not responding in my mom's winme task manager so i believe its normal.Sasser is only for w2k/winxp.

    I found the solution in the Sygate forum. You need to download version 5.5 which does not cause the error. The current version,5.6,has the bug. Sygate's official answer is to upgrade to the Pro version for $40.00
