  1. I am wondering where is majority of owners (or potential owners) located. As an side effect it should also show if price difference plays any role here.

Yes... It sounds confusing. Original poll was posted in "DVD Recorder" forum.... anyway... It should be (I guess) like this...

    1. If you are owner of DVD Recorder, select where are you from.
    2. If you don't have DVD Recorder, are you planning to buy one ? If yes then select where are you from.

Does it make more sense now ? Tha would be too long so I made it shorter in poll.

  17. I am not sure which norm is used where in the world and I was trying to avoid missing anyone. For eaxmple I think that PAL-M (different than one in EU) is used in Latin America. I thin that also in India they use PAL... and so on....

  18. One more think.... my selection was also based on post that I read here. For example I saw big discution about prices in Australia... Generaly prices are much higher anywere outside of USA...

Actually, there are some countries that use PAL (Argentina) and others that use NTSC (Chile).

About the poll. No I don't have one and I don't plan on having one (I can use my theatrix to record to my hard drive in MPEG-2 format if I need to).

  24. I have 3 DVD Recorders.
    1. Sansui DVD VCR from Sears. boxed up and put away because any interference was detected as macrovision.

    2. Ilo DVDR04. going to give it to my mother to replace her VCR.

    3. Lite-On 5006. use it with DVD RWs instead of a VCR. I'm also using it to back-up my VHS tapes.

  25. Panasonic E-10 from August 2001 that still works. Had an E20 from November of the same year that died about a year ago. Tried the JVC and got rid of it as fast as I could, couldn't stand it.

I am holding off on purchasing a "stand-alone" DVD recorder until I can
get a unit with a built-in 80 Gig or 120 Gig hard drive for around $200.

Any suggestions on a good quality yet inexpensive unit or do you guys
think I'll be waiting a long time for prices to drop.

Then you one of those "other"....

May I ask you why ? What was the reason for owning NTSC recorder in PAL world ? It was something that I was considering before moving back to EU from USA.

donpedro - if your poll supposed to show you differences NTSC vs PAL systems (how many people on this board from America and Europe use them) then it won't be correct.
Majority of users on this board are americans, australians and bunch of english-speaking europeans, with a handful of english-speaking asians and africans thrown-in. Even though PAL users outweight NTSC users like 5:1 or 6:1 in the real world, any poll among users of this particular board in regard to NTSC vs PAL devices will always end with NTSC being more 'popular' than PAL.

  30. DereX888, I would have to agree... But this is the most that I can do. There is no way to create accurate poll.
