Sounds like your SLV575 has a bad capstan motor. Very common problem with that model and similar models that use the same motor.

I've made hundreds of frame captures myself. I found that replacing all of my awful Monster Cables with other brands (Acoustic Research, Belden, Mogami) reduced vast amounts of color distortion and transmitted some very sharp images.
