  1. I get this error trying to convert a REAL file to anything else

    AppleScript error
can't get text item 2 of "Binary file(standardinput) matches" (-1728)

    Please help.

  2. I would suggest to overwrite your ffmpegX application with a freshly re-downloaded one (from http://homepage.mac.com/major4/ffmpegX.dmg) and check if the error persists.

  3. Tried it and get exactly the same error. Any other thoughts?

  4. Make sure the application in /Applications and that the disk name does not contain spaces or special characters.

  5. The hard disk name and the application name were okay. I found the error was the file extension. When I fixed that but when I tried to encode I got either a 0KB file or a 20KB file this from the original file that is 3.7MB and an error when I attempted to play it -2048. I'd be happy to send you the file if that could lead to a resolution of my problem.

  6. In fact I've never succeeded at convertain any real video ever.

  7. Please email me to major4@mac.com with your process output when you try to encode this file (click the blue "i" icon to obtain it). Also make sure you use one of the mencoder presets to encode as only mencoder engine reads RealVideo sources.

  8. Thanks again for all your help.
