  1. When I capture to SVCD, should I deinterlace? My main purpose is to watch on standalone dvd, but may watch on puter also.

  3. MPEG2 (SVCD) supports interlacing so it's not necessary to deinterlace. MPEG1 (VCD) does not support interlacing so you'll need a deinterlaced source. For a capture, you'll have to run a filter.

    For a DVD rip, it's a telecined source, just enable force film in DVD2AVI or use an IVTC filter. IF it's a DVD that's actaully NTSC 29.97fps true interlaced, then you'll need to use a filter just like a VHS captured source.
