  1. I read some reviews about this dvd player(which I just bought off amazon.com for $301) and some people said they've been successfully played divX movies burned to a CD. I tried to do it but the player keeps saying "unknown disc". I burned the cd using ISO data format, don't know if that mattered. I also read somewhere that you have to change the file name to "DX50 - DivXNetworks Divx v5" for the player to recognize it but it didn't work for me. I have a good amount of divx movies I ripped during the past several years and would really like to watch them on this portable player instead of sitting in from my PC all the time. Thanks a million!

You can play DivX (or XviD) files on it, but you need to put them onto a DVD-R or a DVD-RW. It won't read them off of a CD-R or CD-RW. The only things it can read off a CD are mp3 files or a video burned as a VCD. DVD-RWs work great for DivX. Enjoy!

It's a portable with a 10.2 inch screen. I bought mine two years ago for about $400. Costco has them now for two-something. Not a bad deal for a portable with such a big screen and DivX playback.
