I recently backed up a film to DVD+RW before committing it to DVD+r. I now want to erase the DVD+RW but cannot.
Nero says "The disk cannot be erased" and the same message appears when I try vsoEraser.
Can anyone give me an idea of what to do next? Is it because they are film files and not data files?
    Any advice appreciated.

    Ramon,
I also record to + RW's first, then +r's. On my Philips recorder there is
a "protection" setting that will set a +rw to not be able to record.
I don't know if this would prevent erase by computer.
You might also try to reformat the disk.

Thanks for the reply mikel. I fear I have made a booboo! The disks show RW, but underneath in the smallest possible print is dvd+r so I assume it is not an RW. Another point of confusion is that on the opposite side of the same face, is says (again in the tinyest print possible) PartNo txdvd-r

Serves me right for buying from LeClerc's instead of through the web.

  4. I think you will find that a lot of '+' format discs have the 'RW' symbol on them even though they are not rewritable.
I have some '+R' Imation discs which have this symbol on them and it can be easy to use incorrectly if your not careful.

  5. Try erasing with Nero disc check if you have it, once happened to me book type was set to dvd-rom and normal nero would not erase but disc check erased it.

Thanks INFRATOM & HARRYSPADGE. So much to learn and too little time to learn it. At least this forum helps to ease the pain when I make a mistake (which appears to be quite often!).
