Does that mean it won't be able to play PS1 games? I don't have a PS1 or 2, but I would still like to see legacy support in case I ever decide to get a PS3. Even now, I've just been getting into SNES games when I never had them when I was younger.

Perhaps the 7 controller idea is so that you can use multiple devices like a driving wheel with the pedals separate, so you don't have to buy both at once if you don't want to (and they can charge more per unit).

i believe it will play ps1 games. thats one of sony's selling points over the xbox.. i'm kind of wondering how they will pull off playstation 2 emulation.. if they use emulation, which i think they have to.. thats how they accomplished it on the ps2.

Hey, there are two HDMI outputs; maybe you can hook up two TVs with one PS3. It probably doesn't work like that, but I think it would be cool if it did . Sony should hire me as an engineer.

Seven is because they use Bluetooth. Bluetooth supports a max of 7 active connections at a time.

Look at CD specs (not DVD). It's in there. Perhaps you forget that the original PS1 is built on CD media.

Yes, if IIRC, similar to old SCSI, it supports 8 devices with 1 of them being the base unit, so 7 left.

So far, all 3 game makers seem to be pulling out the stops with the technology (MS, Sony, Nintendo). Now, if they can just make it affordable...

My neighbor kid has a PS2 and every tiem I play it my fingers are killing me! Grab the smaller Xbox style and oh man, much, much better. I don't know how anyone can use those PS2 controllers. Just don't use the big Xbox controller, too bulky.

different strokes for different folks. I find both of the X-BOX controllers to be virtual torture devices - I call them the "carpal tunnel" machines.
the Dual-Shock2, however, feels like a dream in my hands. My only complaint is that it's a bit too small -- some of us come in adult sizes. I'm 6'4" and have BIG hands....
My buddy is from Japan (he's 6'3") and brought his Japanese PS1 back with him several years ago, the Japanese "standard" PS controller is even smaller than the U.S. "standard" PS controller. I don't know how he could have suffered with that controller all those years...

That's certainly what the rumor on the street is for Nintendo Revolution, so I wouldn't put it past Sony to incorporate that also and get some of their anticipated users, especially as the Cell should be able to easily handle 2 HD streams (acc'd to advertised specs).

Not sure if it has Components but I do know that you can hook it up to two TVs. But I know I can't afford two HD televisions. yes it will play ps1 games. they aren't listed there because those are DVD formats and psone never had any dvd games.
