I've got a movie in avi format that is split to fit on 2 CDs. I want to convert this to DVD. I've joined the avi files using VirtualDub (using this guide, including the keyframe bit: http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/14/59/). My concern is the subtitles. They are split into 2 CD mode as well (.idx & .sub files for each CD). What is the best way to join these and convert to a format suitable for DVD? Am I going to end up with sync problems because I joined the avi?

    Thanks guys.

"The best way to join these and convert to a format suitable for DVD?"
    Subtitle Workshop

"Am I going to end up with sync problems because I joined the avi?"
No if you follow the help file instructions - you have several options.

    From the description:

"Subtitle Workshop is the most complete, efficient and convenient subtitle editing tool. It supports all the subtitle formats you need(not sub/idx use subrip) and has all the features you would want from a subtitle editing program."

From that I was under the impression that it didn't support the format I have.

EDIT: It definitely doesn't work. I just tested it out.

  4. Vobsub should have cutter and joiner for idx/sub files.

Get the subs in .srt format. Use Subtitle Studio to join, using length of part 1 video as delay for part 2 subs.

It would work if you follow instructions.
Just use Subrip to convert your sub/idx to .srt.
Then use Subtitle Workshop to join.
