  1. I was given my first VCD recently by a friend, but it will not play in my Playstation 2, and to open it on my PC I have to guide it to a program. Is there any way to change the file type from a DAT file to either an avi or an mpeg file?....Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,

  2. well to play it on your pc file, you don't need to change it to anything... just rename the .dat to .mpg and off you go..... There is some additional header stuff in the file that should be stripped, but just for playing on the computer, fuhgeddaboudit.

  7. If there's no way to output this to video, does anyone know how to get it to play on my Playstation 2....I also tried it on my friends DVD player, and it played, but the picture constantly rolls....any ideas on what might be causing this?
    Thanks,
    Lisa

  8. Hi,

I've never try with Playstation 2. But I just know that Playstation (probably PS 1) used STR moview, not AVI.
So I think you should try Sony Movie Conversion Tools.
    Check the below link:

Good luck & pls let me know the result also.
