    Not too complicated.

First choose whether you are going to do the work or someone else.

If you are going to do it there are tons of posts here on just how to setup and do it. Simply put you are going to either use a special transfer unit or play the movies on a screen and rerecord on a digital camcorder. Once recorded you will send it to a capture card via firewire of USB 2.0 and viola! you are in business.

Another fairly cost effective way is to have it done by a company. Local drugstores now offer the service. The only thing to consider is the format you will be getting back. If you are going to be doing any editing on it at all you would prefer something like an uncompressed .avi file.

  3. Do you know what drugstores in particular offer this service. Do you think it would be expensive.

    Thanks

I thought that my local Walgreens had advertised the service. I never took advantage of it because I was looking for raw uncompressed .AVI so that I could do some editing on it. I did not know what format I would get back on DVD.
