  1. i have some divx files that plays fine on the computer using divx player 2.5.5. but when i try to play the files on my dvd player the video is very shocky and in slow motion but the sound works well.

i was wondering if i can reencode it with virtualdub or a different program.
i tried virtualdub but i dont really know how.

p.s. i have a LG DV-8700H, not that that's important in this topic

  2. To answer your other question, recompressing an XviD as DivX should fix it if the player only plays DivX, but that would create a large loss of quality in the conversion process, which is something you want to avoid by getting an MPEG-4 capable player. If you have to recompress everything, you might as well just convert everything to DVD/SVCD.
Is the reply I got for a very simillar question. I have not actualy tried yet so cannot comment.

I think that the bottom line is - yes it can be done but not really worth it.

    Hope this helps, Hakamtzan
