  1. I'm trying to extract/convert the audio track from a DVD to MP3. Is there a freeware program that will do this? Thanks.

  3. Hi-

Yes, it's called DVDDecrypter. Set it up in IFO Mode, highlight the PGC you want (the longest is the default), hit the Stream Processing Tab, tick the Enable Stream Processing box, deselect all the boxes except for the audio stream you want, highlight it, tick Demux, choose a Destination folder, and hit the green triangle to begin the process.

That'll give you the AC3 track (or LPCM if that's what it is). Then use BeSweet or HeadAC3he to convert the AC3 to MP3.

  5. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I'm not getting a ACD file. I get a VOB file that I can't extract. I'm rather new at this so I think I'm doing something wrong. Any help?

  6. Is there a free way to do it? Or are you pushing your own software. Limited funds.

Why can't I get DVD Decripter to convert to ac3?

  8. Why can't I get DVD Decripter to convert to ac3?

You have to highlight the audio stream (make it turn dark blue) as well as check its box, and also then tick Demux.

That seemed to be one of my problems. I can't get BeSweet to work for me. It continues to say Error 75: Unable to get VOBinput.dll interfaces and I have downloaded that file and put it in the same folder as beSweet. I guess I will try Headac3he. Thanks for your help.

Because it's a ripper. That's all it does. It doesn't convert/transcode/encode anything. It just rips. Rips and burns.

Keith, what Manono said in his last post, you have to check and highlight the stream you want to extract AND choose demux. (otherwise you can right click on any stream, set demux all, and check only the stream(s) you want).
