  1. Hi, I'm trying to capture video from my MiniDV camcorder to my computer through firewire, and then burn it onto a dvd

I'v tried this with NERO but the quality came out pretty bad

I need either a good software that would help me do this, mainly capture to my computer. Or there is something specific I need to change in NERO. Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanx

Describe where the quality went bad. The steps are:

    1. IEEE-1394 transfer from camcorder to a DV-AVI file on the computer.

Test: Record DV-AVI back to the camcorder (different tape) or play through the camcoder (NERO doesn't support this) Then play the tape and see if there is a difference. It should be identical.

    2. Edit, apply filters and effects etc.

Test: Save to DV-AVI file and view on the camcorder. Result should be close in quality to original.

    3. Encoding: It probably screwed up at this step.

NeroVision3 defaults are "High Quality (2 pass VBR)

    Next produces this??????

Yikes, this is probably because I was capping an ATI AIW card.

Tell us what your project settings show.

As you can see, mine went for very low quality.
