  1. Hi,

I've been authoring DVDs with TMPGEnc DVD Author.
I'm just wondering what the best way to put an audio track on the menu. I know I can use the audio from the mpeg file used for the background.

I guess what I need to do is create a file with a picture and an audio track together. How do I do this?

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers,

    Rav

TMPGEnc will accept BMP files (also accepts other image files but the types escape me ATM) so you specify the image as your video source and your audio as your audio source. Choose your settings and output a dvd-compliant MPEG, then import this as a motion menu in TDA.

    If in doubt, Google it.

Thanks for the tip. I've downloaded TMPGEnc. I tried making an mpeg with a jpeg as the video source and a 30 sec .wav file as the audio source. I did this on the main page and not through the project wizard.
Once I pressed start it was converting at 1% per minute. The size of the jpeg is 1.4 mb and the wav file is about 8 mb.
I was wondering what specific settings I need to adjust in TMPGEnc. When I tried to do this through the project it doesn't allow me to use bmp or jpeg files as the vid source.

I'd use the DVD (PAL) or DVD (NTSC) template (whichever one is more suitable for your location), and set your video bitrate to a low value like 500kbps CBR. I think you might have to leave your audio as WAV, because IIRC TMPGEnc can be picky regarding the type of audio it accepts for motion menus.
    If in doubt, Google it.

You have to use a video editing software to put the audio with a still image and output as MPEG-1.

If it's only encoding at 1% per minute that is more of a computer issue, either CPU, memory or software...it's not the size of the files.
