    Gang HELP!!!

I have an MPEG2 file from TV capture (720x480 - 6Mbps VBR - 48,000/384 Mbps audio). When I opened file in Womble MPEG Video Wizard, the file played fine at the beginning, but mid-way through the 45 minute movie it started losing synch and then it was badly out of synch the last few miuntes. The audio drift is now behind the video scenes.

Is there a method to resynch this? Its driving me crazy. Thanks.

You could try extracting the audio and checking to see if it is the same length as the video. If it isn't, you could try stretching it to the same length. If it is already the same length, you are pretty much out of luck.

There is also a guide: https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?guideid=160&howtoselect=5;22#160

There is also a program called DVDReDo which will accomplish what you are requesting. I believe they have a 20 day full trial.

Thanks all, for your input and help.

I tried Goldwave last night (still have the trial version from about 20 days ago). I tried the method in the link providd by Krispy Kritter, but it didnt work for me. Then after messing around in Goldwave, the Time Warp function fixed the audio synch. It apparently did what some have said you should not do, which is to compress the time in your audio file to match video. At the end of my file the audio was about 8 seconds off But now it is in synch and the audio sounds fine, as I cant tell any difference between the before and after.

I didnt know VideoRedo could do that, but I guess I dont need it now. I can sleep better now, thank goodness......

ok, false start. As it turns out Goldwave did not fix the problem completely. It fixed one file, but not the others. Apparently, the video dropped frames, which caused a slight glitch when the movie is played. It started to become a real pain in the @$$ to try and find every drop frame point in the video and then cut and re-synch every time that happened.

    Project scrapped

Give VideoReDo another look. Load your video and then choose "quickstream fix" from the Tools menu.

It will scan your file and fix all that stuff you're trying to do by hand. And it's FAST! You will kick yourself for trying to do it with Goldwave first.

Plus, it's a great editor for cutting, clipping and joining files.

And... if you have any problems you can ask on its support forums and you'll get a quick answer from the developer. He's always looking for "problem" files to enhance the program.

Tried VideoReDo and it didnt fix it, sad to say. It got hung up on the troublesome file. Guess the drop frames was too much to handle. Anyway, thanks for the tip.
