  1. I just wanted to point out that this guide for power users on doing the conversion the long way:

    https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?guideid=699#699

is outdated, and the process no longer works. dvd2avi is obsolete. The tool that replaced it will produce the same type of file, but the pseudo-avi file produced by vfapi can no longer be read by virtualdub for some reason.

You can still use DVD2AVI (all you gotta do is google for it to find it), or if using DGIndex then try changing the "Files of type" box to the 'other' type of D2V file.
    If in doubt, Google it.

In what way has DVD2AVI become obsolete? On my system, it still does everything it's always done, and that's all I need...

  4. This is what it says on the doom9 website:
DGMPGDec 1.3.0 - latest version of the tool formerly known as DVD2AVI
Maybe if I grabbed a version of dvd2avi when it was still being called that I might have had more success with this method.

    True that
I'll have a look at my guide to see what can be done to bring it back to current versions.
