When i place a PAL dvd into my DVP-642 the image kind of looks squeezed and their faces are long. Is this my Tv or the Dvd?

    Thanks.

Its your encoding method, you need to keep the right aspect ratio. If you d/l it then the movie was encoded wrong.

Does this happen for commercial disks as well ?
Does it happen for NTSC disks ?

If it only for this disk, then Johns0 is right - it's an authoring issue.

If it happens for other disks as well, especially commercial disks, then your player has not been set up correctly. You need to go to the set up menu and look for something probably called display format. Make sure it is set to 16:9 -> Letterbox is you have a 4:3 TV.
