Apparently you arn't the only one with problems: http://www.petitiononline.com/mgs2pc/petition.html. I would suggest getting a PS2 and that game, both MGS2 and MGS3 are worth buying the system alone for...

that bad huh, well i thought i was the only one with the problem, its kinda nice to know that im not alone, but i dont wanna have to wait until KONAMI decides that its time they make a patch for those people who want to play this game. and im not really into the PS2 or its games for that matter simply because, i dont like using money...on video game consoles, at least. not to shoot down your idea studtrooper, its just that im not that kinda guy, but thanks for the input.

  10. You might have to wait for a patch or new driver release for you graphic card. Doesn't sound too promising by that post of studtrooper's.

Try the newest or maybe even older drivers for your ti 4200,when i had a ti 4200 it worked fine for me but that was last year,it even runs fine on my radeon 9800 pro.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

  13. I had a Geforce 5600 256mb card that gave me odd screen colors running Far Cry after a driver update.....had to roll back the driver then 3 months later another driver update did not cause problems.
My current 9800 pro will give me strange anomolies in the Riddick demo. All-in-all, my experience with "cutting edge" games has ALWAYS been one of cross your fingers and push play. The inevitable patch and driver update solves 90% of the problems- the other 10% has been fixed by a MoBo dirver or BIOS update.

Dig thru Nvidia.com for legacy drivers and try one after un-installing the current ones.

so i guess its recommended in my case to roll back the driver (how much should i roll back, like how many drivers u kno wat i mean), and if that doesnt work, i should wait for a patch or something, cuz i contacted KONAMI, and i havent recieved anything from them, but hey... thanks tho

i read somewhere that installing the 30.82 helped in this specific problem for this specific game. so i did and after the installation completed, i tried to run MGS2. i then got this error

and the screen flashed into LOW COLOR Mode (4 bit), and i couldnt change it..., so i had to power off, and power back on...

so any advice what i shoudl do next? thanks

I'm gonna go out on the limb here, but did you install the latest DirectX (currently 9.0c)? If you haven't, run Windows Update and get it...

  26. Direct x 9.c is ok but your ti4200 can't use any instructions from it anyways. Maybe there is a way to force the game to use direct x 8 instructions but it should be automatic.
As far as tweking goes- tweakguides is a general settings guide and helps explain each one- especially with the Nvidia control panel. Could be the game is forcing modes not supported by your monitor.?

DirectX isn't just about programmable pixle shaders. Even with a DirectX 8.1 card like the 4xxx series, DX9 is REQUIRED with the newest games like Doom III...
