Apparently you arn't the only one with problems: http://www.petitiononline.com/mgs2pc/petition.html. I would suggest getting a PS2 and that game, both MGS2 and MGS3 are worth buying the system alone for...

that bad huh, well i thought i was the only one with the problem, its kinda nice to know that im not alone, but i dont wanna have to wait until KONAMI decides that its time they make a patch for those people who want to play this game. and im not really into the PS2 or its games for that matter simply because, i dont like using money...on video game consoles, at least. not to shoot down your idea studtrooper, its just that im not that kinda guy, but thanks for the input.

well m8 i have played MGS1 well in the video options u can go for either software/openGL/d3d modes.well try em and try 2 change the resolution of ur screen also.
-
see in mgs2, i cant find those options, so ill have to try some other way of finding how to change the res and all. thanks tho...

You might have to wait for a patch or new driver release for you graphic card. Doesn't sound too promising by that post of studtrooper's.
-
Try the newest or maybe even older drivers for your ti 4200,when i had a ti 4200 it worked fine for me but that was last year,it even runs fine on my radeon 9800 pro.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
o ok, so do i just go to the NVIDIA and download older drivers and install those? also why would going to older drivers have any effect? thanks

I had a Geforce 5600 256mb card that gave me odd screen colors running Far Cry after a driver update.....had to roll back the driver then 3 months later another driver update did not cause problems.
My current 9800 pro will give me strange anomolies in the Riddick demo. All-in-all, my experience with "cutting edge" games has ALWAYS been one of cross your fingers and push play. The inevitable patch and driver update solves 90% of the problems- the other 10% has been fixed by a MoBo dirver or BIOS update.
Dig thru Nvidia.com for legacy drivers and try one after un-installing the current ones. -
so i guess its recommended in my case to roll back the driver (how much should i roll back, like how many drivers u kno wat i mean), and if that doesnt work, i should wait for a patch or something, cuz i contacted KONAMI, and i havent recieved anything from them, but hey... thanks tho

ok i rolled back my driver (like 1 or 2 back), followed correct procedure, and tried to run game, but i get this error...
i tried changin screen res settings but same thing, what do i do?Wow! You got shocks, pegs... LUCKY! -
skip mgs2 has got some bugs in the game just go 2 official site mite be they got some patches for the game just d/l em
-
i did i went to the official site and all they got is a patch for ATI RADEON cards... i wrote them an email and i havent gotten a reply...

ok now im not even being allowed to play the game, just the error(above) comes up and thats it, omg why is my comp so crappy. sorry to sound frustrated, i just cant stand it when things dont work, u know
...

btw i thought it was because of the driver, so i uninstalled the old driver, and installed my driver which i was running before... but the same thing kept happening

i read somewhere that installing the 30.82 helped in this specific problem for this specific game. so i did and after the installation completed, i tried to run MGS2. i then got this error
and the screen flashed into LOW COLOR Mode (4 bit), and i couldnt change it..., so i had to power off, and power back on...
so any advice what i shoudl do next? thanksWow! You got shocks, pegs... LUCKY! -
Check here: http://www.tweakguides.com and check under Forceware tweaks- might find something to help.
-
o man im kinda skeptical about tweaking...

but thanks 4 the advice... !!

I'm gonna go out on the limb here, but did you install the latest DirectX (currently 9.0c)? If you haven't, run Windows Update and get it...

yep sey daisy, i got it...

Direct x 9.c is ok but your ti4200 can't use any instructions from it anyways. Maybe there is a way to force the game to use direct x 8 instructions but it should be automatic.
As far as tweking goes- tweakguides is a general settings guide and helps explain each one- especially with the Nvidia control panel. Could be the game is forcing modes not supported by your monitor.? -
o ok, so im basically just playing around with settings, i dont have to take apart my comp (i got the impression that i had to dismantle my comp, when the site said i had to back eveything up and all that...) do i have to back up and system restore and all? thanks

i got a hunch that some of ur diretcX dll's mite be corrupt.as far as the 3d object just go 2 start-->run--->dxdiag and just check whether directX got a prob or ur video drivers.if its got video drivers prob update from the site
