My question is what is it and will it be there when i process a dvd.

After i have learnt a few things due to help from members i to will be able to give advice like this "i hope".

it sounds like you have a codec installed which is in demo mode.... Do you get the same when you play said file in WMP?

  3. I am using WMP 10 and yes it happens there also,it also happens in Video Redo as well.
Since i posted the question i run it through the S2D process and played it using Power Dvd XP and it plays ok without the rubiks cube,so i assume it will be ok when it has been burnt ?.

You mention codec in demo ? how can it be turned on etc.

  4. The codec is something installed on your system, not from SVCD2DVD. You will have to determine the codec by other means, what do you have installed?

Indeed. It sounds like what you would get from Moonlight-Elecard (http://www.elecard.com/download/). If you try the DVD in your player you will not experience this. It is only that you PC chooses this codec to display the file and that the codec "is not fully functional".

If you need a hand resolving the issue (i.e Identifying the codec and removing it) let me know.

  6. I have had a look in add and remove programes and Elecard Mpeg2 player is in there but no file size next to it ?,i click on remove and it comes back with player removed but the Elecard Mpeg2 player heading is still in the list.
I searched for files and folders called Elecard to which the result was zero ?.
I then downloaded a programe called Sherlock which tells me what codecs i have installed on the pc.It run a check and all codecs listed are installed correctly are in black but 2 that are in red and are called Elecard Mpeg2 Video Decoder and Moonlight Nicepheratu ?.
If you click on either of the 2 named a box comes up saying the driver for this codec was not found this probably means the codec was not uninstalled properly ?.
All very well but how do i find / remove the 2 from the list if by doing a search on both did not find anything.
Out of all the video codecs shown in the list cant the 2 named be deselected etc and just use all the others or dont it work like that.

    Thanks.

  8. Well it`s like this, mymate has deleted the avi file that was giving me the rubiks cube icon so i am not sure if it has been sorted or not.
I will have to download a few small avi files and see.
Am i right in thinking that each avi can be made up to use a different codec etc ?, If so is there anywhere i can check what codec is in the clip i will download so i can try to eliminate which codec works and which dont ?.
Or will it be quicker to list the codecs i have installed on my pc "via sherlock" and maybe some people will spot that there are a few very common codecs missing in my list that i should have installed so to narrow down the chance of having rubiks cube icons again.
Only a suggestion if it works great.

Cheers now off to shoot my mate.

  9. I have managed to find the elecard mpeg2 decoder and now installed it over the missing files that i previously had and now the rubiks cube icon has gone.
I then downloaded 2 avi clips from different users and played each in turn but noticed that the characters speak and seconds after there lips move.
In there properties they all say audio format cyberlink mpeg1 layer 3.
I have a good picture and good sound but slightly out ?.
Used codec finder to get info shown below.

    Video Codec FourCC: xvid
    Video Codec: XviD MPEG-4
    Codec or Variant Installed?: NO!
    Video Width x Height: 640 x 256
    Video FPS/Bitrate: 23.976 / 1127 kbit/s
    Audio Codec: MPEG Layer 3
    Audio Bitrate: 133 Kbit/s
    Audio Channels: 2 (Stereo)
    Audio Samples: 48,000 Hz

    Video Codec FourCC: div3
    Video Codec: DivX MPEG4
    Codec or Variant Installed?: NO!
    Video Width x Height: 512 x 384
    Video FPS/Bitrate: 25.000 / 833 kbit/s
    Audio Codec: MPEG Layer 3
    Audio Bitrate: 121 Kbit/s
    Audio Channels: 2 (Stereo)
    Audio Samples: 44,100 Hz

Elecard has been removed, still same problem,so installed again.

Any help to solve this would be great,ie link to find correct codec as the codec being used is Moonlight Odio Dekoda. If i remove this codec i still have the same issue as if it is not doing anything.

Just to finish it off i was 95 % through doing a avi conversion after 4 hours of running when we had a power cut and now have to start all over again as well as the above issue.

    Cheers.

  10. Ok i am banging my head against the wall now and having spent hours trying to resolve the issue i have got nowhere Please help.

    All mpg films play fine.
All avi films out of sync by about 2 seconds.
If i put a avi through S2D and then watch "perfect"
So it is i believe a codec error.

Help required to resolve this but same codec being used to view film and g spot list 3 available but how to change different codec to try?.

    Cheers
