  1. I'm using 2 freeware bitrate analyzers...one is Bitrate 14 and one is BitRate Viewer. I've encoded my mpeg 2 files in Procoder at 5000 average and 7900 max bitrate, 2 pass, VBR, etc.
We authored the project in Encore, and I just want to make sure...when I look at the files in BitRate Viewer, they show normally with a "peak" of only 7800 kbs. However, when I look using Bitrate 14, it shows peaks of well over 9800 kbs. I think this Bitrate 14 is a cheap analyzer and I am ready to dismiss it's findings...except that when I analyze other DVDs I've produced (they all work fine, 1 is replicated, 1 burned) they both do not show any such spikes through Bitrate 14. The software is at this link: http://www.wintotal.de/softw/index.php?action=korrektur&id=1641

Has anyone had problems with either Procoder or Encore putting such "bitrate spikes" in their projects, even though the settings are correct? Please advise...

Run your video through ReMPEG and look at "STATISTICS". Use the bitrate analyzer that closely matches these figures.

  3. tried that and wasn't really impressed with the results...how does my MPEG2 have peaks that are above what the max bitrate set in Procoder is?

  5. This is a bulletin board, not IRC. Please don't bump the thread again, especially only after waiting 3 hours. It is considered rude.

I guess that you'll have to send a problem report to the MainConcept technical support team.
