I've been using MC for plenty of 4:3 encodes, but now I have some nicely captured 16:9, and 2:1 footage.
I cannot figure out how to get MC to letterbox properly, for viewing on a 4:3 TV.
I know how to do it in tmpgenc, and would also like to know how to get Canopus Procoder to take my .avs frameserved files (if it's even possible).
I frameserve everything from virtualdub, and up till now, have resized and letterboxed in vdub prior to frameserving. It's a slow process![]()

Procoder 1.5 and above can open .avs (avisynth) files directly and Mainconcept 1.4.2 can do it also. Just select all file types and open it.
With Procoder 1.0 I think it was possible to use some wrapper like VFAPI or Link2 to make a pseudo-avi from the avisynth file.
You can do all the cropping/letterboxing stuff in avisynth. FitCD may be helpful to create the avisynth script needed. You may want to author your DVD as widescreen 16:9 and let your DVD player do the letterboxing because if you upgrade your TV later you may want the 16:9 format on your DVD. -
AHA! That's why. I only have 1.1x...upgrade time
I know that MC and others can do it, I've done it.
Trying to avoid adding yet more steps with vfapi etc, but I may have to.
Thanks.Cheers, Jim
