FROM MY JOB! Geeze had you all hopeful for a second there right?

Anyway over the last 5 years here at my job I've noticed it slowly slide downhill. Not just in benefits and any feeling of a team slowly going away but even in the way we are treated by managment. Benefits gone, starting pay so low that nobody new is skilled at all, managment that really doesn't care how good a job you do as long as team stats look ok. It wasn't always like this.

Anyway if I'm kinda on an off again for a while its because I'm in the middle of a job search which though I'm still working I find it very taxing at time. Maybe there will be no difference but I know I've been around less the last few days because of it and so this is offical notice that in the near future I MAY or MAY NOT be scarce. lol

I've got 2 potentials on the plate right now, both I'm waiting for calls from but because of "inside sources" have really good shots at. Both have awesome beneifts and one has pay roughly twice what I make now. (meaning good money at last) so wish me luck.

    I wish you luck!

I'm on about the same situation myself, but I found the cure: I care less, work only the time it is supposed too and I have my eyes open for something else. I'm doing those things about a year now, and believe it or not, the managment thinks that now I'm better than before with my duties! Now, are they stupid or what?

And then disaster strikes. this morning at work out of the blue I started having chest pains. I freaked out but because of our horrible insurance I didn't head to the emergency room as no other syntoms came with it.

When I got off I visited my doctor who did all the normal stuff, he says my heart seems fine but wants me to go for a stress test in the morning. More medical stuff I can't afford with my crappy insurance. In the mean time he says my cholestoral and bloodpressure which have always been at the high end of acceptable have gone up, as well as my bloodsurgar now being SAFE but high.

Long and the short is I need to lose about 75lbs., I've spoken with him about a specific diet and if I go on it I'll let anyone interested know the results. Its kinda expensive but actually cost less then what I end up spending on food and colas anyway.

Why does shit always happen all at one time?

Time to switch to light beer

actually most people can drop considerable weight if you just stop drinking carbonated beverages...no pepsi, coke, etc...empty calories

I know and trust me I drink my and your share of colas a day. They are something else I will be giving up. matter of fact if things go well the rest of this week I better eat just about anything I love because by Saturday I'm on a very restrictive diet until I drop back to 200lbs. No cola, no burgers, no fast food at all.

My stress level is through the roof too. I have felt my heart skip a few beats over the last couple of weeks, but like you my insurance sucks so I probably won't go to the Dr unless it gets worse...

I think mass quantities of beer is all thats keeping me alive!

I hate to be the bad guy, but I got to tell ya not many people can just drop 75lbs. Get you doctor to perscribe a pill and 1000 to 1500 calories a day and stick to it. You got to get some exercise in too, about twice what you think that you have been doing for the last two years. If you claim for example that you walk a mile a day now, it doesn't matter because your body is already used to it. I am on my feet all day and can walk at about 3-4 miles an hour so I figure that I got to average at least 10 miles a day of distance traveled even in a tight space. My doctor told me that I would have to walk that at a brisk continuous pace for it to count towards exercise because I am accustomed to always walking. He actually recomended jogging with a grin on his face! (285lbs don't jog well!)

Counting calories is the only real way to loose weight with consistant and accurate results. Unfortunatly it is the most miserable way to loose weight that you will be able to force on yourself. Like two of them microwave diet meals a day is 1200 calories (You will be hungry as hell) Even if you cook from scratch, when you look at small how a quarter cup of something is you will freak out. (I think the microwave meals are easier to do and it is harder to cheat with) The soda pop has to go too! And diet taste so bad that cold turkey or only one can a day over a large cup of crushed ice is the way to go. (Diet cola YECH TPHUUEE I would rather lick my... well you know what I mean)

And to add insult to injury, loosing the weight is not even the hard part! I am guessing that you are 275, at 1000 to 1500 calories a day and a little exercise you can easily loose that 75lbs in six to eight months. Keeping it off requires a life style change. Nobody really tells you that or tells you how much of a change. I am talking join the French Forein Legion kind of change. Move from Jamacia to Siberia type change. You will be a slave to your body for the rest of your life, if not you will start to gain it back.

Just full of good cheer ain't I? Sorry folks this is the cold hard truth as I know it, but hey you can try to prove me wrong. Just drop the weight and keep it off for three years and you win!

Good luck (No sarcasim intended this is to serious of a topic)

I am speaking with my doctor, he wants me to get exercise of course but right now he wants me to drop pounds over just about everything else.

The diet it looks like I'm doing is very low calorie and the need for exercise during the early part is low (over excercise can hurt because its such a low calorie diet that you may burn eveyrthing your taking in) after a few months I'll be able to eat more normal foods and then he wants me to get ALOT of exercise.

That actually sounds about right, No need to tax you body when it is suffering from a lack of calories anyway I would suggest some form of mild exercise anyways if only to help get into the routine, Some streching type moves or a mild form of yoga. If I could do just the streching and warm up that I did when I was taking karate I would be half of my weight! Watch out for an electrolyte imbalance if you do try doing anything extreame. The last time I crash dieted I got some serious cramps at work while doing heavy work!

Ask about some kind of appitite suppressent, ain't no shame in getting help. Something safe and mild. Hopefully your chest pains where not of a nature that would exclude any. I know that alot of people think that it is cheating or not natural or that it is a crutch, but once you drop like 30lbs in a month you will be so excited that you will be able to keep on dropping weight without them. Big results can have a positive effect on your attitude.

Oh hell, now I am starting to sound like Dr. Phil, I'll leave you to your demise for awhile

update: blood results back and I'm NOT being put on cholesterol meds. I do for some reason have to go get a freakign liver sonagram tomorrow though.

I have no idea how I'm paying for all this, and at a time when I live in texas and my cars AC is out at the start of summer.

They must have picked up slightly elevated liver enzymes in your blood work. Standard practice to
check the liver just to be sure. Most likely nothing
    or a slight fatty invasion.

Flaystus, did your blood work also include a test for H. pylori? Sometime, they do cause pain (pressure on the chest).
I did have it a while back. My primary care have me went thru the whole list of tests including heart echogram and Thalium stress test. Man, that is a lot of radioactive stuff they injected into me for the stress test. The tech who gave it to me keep telling me it's a safe amount, but when I go to work the next day and put a geiger counter in front of me, that sucker sing like siren going off at a 5 alarm fire for 2 weeks before it taper off!!

Webster: don't have the exact blood work in front of me so I can't tell you for sure.

Well I didn't get the stress test, I've been racking up dollars in medical expensises and when I went to the test I asked them to call my Insurance company (because its the most horrible insruance I've seen short of none) and found out how much it would cost ME out of pocket.

Turns out they consider a stress test a "normal doctors visit" and only pay $85. The test cost a total of $1200. I walked out, cannot afford crap like that. Not paying $1200 to run on a treadmill and be told "your horribly out of shape and need to lose weight" which obviously I already know.

So unless something happens more, I guess the medical stuff is at an end for now. But I still have to lose 65lbs. by January.

Also my interview for the "ultra mega groovy" job is on Wed.

Well on the job front I've been saying for 2 weeks over and over "its too good to be true". Today I found out it is, seems there was a miscommunication about how much it pays. Its Not the min. $25 an hour I had heard. Its more like $15. Hell of a miscommication. Only slightly more then I make now.

Well looks like my time of barely being around is over, doesn't look like I've found a job. The one is likely a bust, and besides hasn't called me back yet, and the other likely has decided to wait until end of the Summer semester to start making decisions one way or another.

Both have better benifits, but either pay a little less or just slightly more. Quite frankly my job now is so blow off easy I have a hard time leaving unless it for something really sweet.

Health stuff seems to be all IDed. My liver sonigram found that 1) my liver is a little fatty and 2) I have alot of gas. This plus my slightly high blood pressure kinda raps up all the symtoms I've had. So I guess its massive diet for me.
