    I am trying to capture with Virtualdub from my VCR. It does not see it. In fact it see my webcam. Tried to turn it off and all webcam softwares it did not help.
    With the same connections thaugh, I am able to use Windows Media Center and Click to DVD.

    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    It never will be able to see your VCR, but it should be able to see the capture device you are connecting the VCR to. Need a bit more information to be able to help.

    Virtualdub use vfm capture drivers and your equipment use wdm capture drivers.

    Try the other alternative for capture: VirtualVCR

    I have a Sony Vio that has windows media center for windows xp. It comes loaded with softwares like click to DVD and DV gate.

    By the way, I dowloaded smart vcr. Screen remains white and does not pick up the VCR.

    i capture exclusively with VirtualDub and only have WDM drivers for my ATI AIW 9000Pro
    the newer version(s) of VirtualDub will use WDM drivers just fine

    Virtualdub still use warpers to handle wdm on later versions. Those "experimental" versions, don't work on anyone without problems!

    ... and your VCR is plugged into ....... what ?

    either way, you are generalizing.
    I capture with with VirtualDub using WDM drivers with no problems.

    jimmalenko makes a very good point
    how is your equipment connected? I'm assuming that your webcam is probably USB, just unplug it.
    How is your VCR connected to your video card?
    What kind of video card do you have?

    yadoc being you have MCE you have Hardware MPEG Encoder so there for it not going to work with VirtualDub.
