I have the InstantCD+DVD program installed. I used the program inside that program, Pinnacle Expression, to create a picture slideshow for VCD. However when I tried to burn, it cannot detect my disc writer. I have authored DVDs and VCDs using another program before and it works fine.

I have a dual DVD+-R/W and CD-R/W writer. Since I don't burn CDs or VCDs often, I only burn DVDs. In Windows Explorer, I have 2 disc drives as quoted in InstantDisc in InstantCD+DVD:

    Sony DVD RW DW-U18A
    Vobid InstantDrive CD

I always use the first one and have never used the second one before. In InstantDisc, I'm sure I can assign a driver but the driver does not have Sony DVD RW DW-U18A or Vobid listed. But it does have Sony DVD RW DW-U10A or something like that. I didn't select anything because I was afraid that after I selected it, my old DVD author won't detect it so I left it alone. What should I do now?

Is there another slideshow maker that includes background music? This is for VCD, not DVD. Any help is appreciated!

The second drive listed is probably a 'image' drive. Not really a drive, but similar to a folder on your harddrive. Some burning programs set one up.

I have the same Sony drive and since it's a fairly recent model, your software may not recognize it by the correct name. I had to upgrade from my old Nero for my burner to be recognized.

You should be able to select the Sony drive, even if it is listed as an older model in your software and burn a CD without any problems.

I'm not 100% sure, but it seems unlikely that using the older driver would corrupt your newer driver. The burner may just not operate with the older driver, then you have your answer.

Otherwise, you need a upgrade of the slideshow software.
