  1. I use DVDShrink and Nero Burning Rom... I haven't had any issues. But I usually burn at 8x and it burns in 10-15 minutes. However, lately I set it to burn at 8x, and it says throughout the entire process that it is burning at 8x, and the estimated time shown is 7 minutes, but in the end it is now taking 30 minutes to burn a DVD at 8x. They are single sided 4.7GB DVDRs and I have used this same brand before and used to get results within 10-15 minutes at the same speed. Does anyone know what the problem might be? I've scanned for spyware and viruses and nothing turned up. The DVDs, although they take 30 minutes, play perfectly. It just makes no sense to me why they now take more than twice as long as they did just a month ago. Thanks!

Brand does not mean anything, since most brands contract to multiple manufacturers for their discs. Run DVD Identifier or DVD Info to find out who actually made the disc.

This sounds more like a DMA issue, check to make sure the drive has not switched to PIO or MultiWord DMA (It should be UDMA 2 or higher). Do a search for more info.

  3. Yeah, seems like you might have used some cheap media (what is it??) & your puter went into PIO mode & it does that to protect itself or somethin.

Are you running out of HDD space somewhere? This can be on a different drive or partition than you expect if settings are incorrect. Try to put source files and temp files on the same drive and avoid having these on the same partition as the OS.
