3D and Video?

I'm wondering what software I need to purchase in order to incorprate real video into scenes from programs such as 3D studio max, or even if that is possible.

I would really love to fuse real prictures/video with my 3dwork.

can you render your 3D's to avi.?...then you can use any video editing programs such as Vegas or Adobe Premiere.

If you are rendering out entire scenes, then render your projects as AVIs.

If you are only creating and animating 3d characters for use in other editing apps, then don't render your 3D documents/images to AVIs, since AVIs don't retain alpha chanels.
