Been browsing and noticed on The Firmware Page http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_result.php?kaj=1&isces that there is a firmware upgrade (currently I have 1.18) available.

The brief note says Pioneer DVR-108 - 1.20 - Support New 8x DVD-R Media but nothing else.

At the moment my burner is working OK but I wondered if anyone has applied the upgrade and can give me some feedback.

I've tried to find the appropriate Pioneer web page to see if it says any more but haven't been lucky so far. If anyone can give the link I'd be grateful.

    Thanks

I have recently purchased a Pioneer 108D (OEM) and flashed the drive with F/W from Gradius v1.18 and the burner is working like a charm.

Goto gradius.com and download the file
    "DVR-A08/108D drive into a true DVR-A08DX/108DX".
    (support DVD-R @ 16x max and DVD-RW @ 4x max)
Another benefit of this F/W is automatic bookmark for +R blanks output is DVD-ROM.

After unzipping the files (3) place them in the Folder bearing your name in the Documents and Settings Folder.

    IMPORTANT Note:
Make sure the "Intel Application Accelerator" is not installed.

Goto command prompt and "TYPE" the following command
(Note: you cannot copy and paste into Command Prompt)

    C:\Documents and Settings\blinky\>dvrflash -vf X: R8150008.110 R8150108.118

NOTE: In that command statement "X" represents your burner DRIVE letter ..eg.. D or E etc. and
"blinky" represents the name that appears after "Documents and Settings" when opening Command Prompt.

The new firmware 1.20 made some of my older media to only be able to burn at 4X. I went back down to the 1.18 firmware.
