I don't understand why every time I Burn and /or copy a Cd or DVD the files are always cached before actually writing. This causes the whole process to last twice as long! I know the benefits of caching to the hard drive, but sometimes i just want a quick copy. Tried the settings on my buring software(Roxio Media 7,Nero 6) and no luck.It used to be fine, don't know what suddenly happened. Please help.

Try checking your drive speeds. The play drive should be set at least twice as fast as the record drive.

There's normally just a tickbox or setting in your burning software which says something like "cache to hard drive before burning", or alternatively, says "quick copy: no caching". Also I seem to recall that you might need your source and destination drives to be on different IDE channels to burn on the fly.
If in doubt, Google it.
