Circuit City and RadioShack are in the middle of a dispute in which company gets to use the name RadioShack in Canada.
The name RadioShack was licensed to InterTan Inc. until 2009. Last year, InterTan was purchased by Circuit City.

I SAY OPEN A PROPER COMPUTER STORE INSTEAD of EITHER of THESE FLAWED BRANDS!
I think all canadians should write in and tell both companies 'we don't wan't no stinkin' radio shacks'

Why would Circuit City want to disgrace themselves by opening up a store named Radio Shack? I guess if it's just to keep Radio Shacks from opening, then that's just stupid...

Why would Radio Shack want to sully it's name by being associated with Circuit City?

I am still boycotting Circuit City as a result of the DIVX debacle. I wouldn't shop there if they were giving away dual layer DVD media.

Next they will both be fighting for the "Edsel" home theater trademark.

  7. Radio shack needs to turn back in to an electronic component niche store, amatuer and hobby store. get back to it's roots... Instead of competing in a world with best buy, circuit city, walmart, in home electronics (computers, TV's ext)

    I agree 100%

I remember in the past when you needed a flux capacitor, the only place you wanted to go was RadioShack. Now, heck I can't remember the last time I was there

I remember even further back when, if you needed a decent electronic part, there were only 3 places to go ... all catalogs:

    1) Heathkit
    2) Lafayette Radio
    3) Allied Radio

Talk about extreme Modding. They make radios out of ham?

What WILL they think of next?

Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

When I was stationed on Guam in the early 70s, my base's carrier-current AFRTS transmitter went down ... a lot. Finally, they gave up trying to fix it. So, I pulled out my Lafayette Radio catalog and ordered the parts to build my own transmitter ... slightly (snicker) beyond the power output allowed by the FCC for "unlicenced" AM broadcasting. When I put the thing together, my barracks buddies and I started our OWN radio station that could be heard all over the island, hehehe. Nobody complained. Sadly, it went off the air in June of '73 ... just before my discharge. What a coincidence.
