ok i have more problems again. i just got done fixes my ide channels a few days back. before that had been done i deleted all the aspi files manuelly and reinstalled thinkin that would fix it.
so anyways after thinkin everything is working right i try to burn a cd with my plex 716a and of course NOTHING HAPPENS. it won't even burn at 1x now!!!
everytime i try to burn a cd everything hangs and i have to restart using button on computer.
a few mins ago i tried putting a dvd+r into the drive with a movie on it and my computer froze.
ive tried reinstalling aspi from adpatic didn't work
tried using nero's aspi didn't work
tried eraseing all aspi didn't work
maybe im not installing these right? but adpactic says i did with the checker thing.
maybe my ide channels are still screwed up? but there's no errors in the manager.
where o where could my computer be where o where could my computer be right there right there on the floor it be useless as ever canbe

I would remove the ide controllers and the drive from device manager, reboot and let Windows reinstall the controllers and the device.

Is DMA on? Also, there is a aspi remover that you shold use before installing the new driver. Also, many have problems withthe latest adaptec aspi driver and recommend an older version. But it has been a long time since I dealt with this problem.

have you used ASPIchk.exe (available from adaptec) to see if your ASPI is in working order? What OS are you using? (Win98, 2k, XP)
Try completely uninstalling all CD/DVD recording software, including any packet writing software. Reboot, and install only the needed apps. (Nero has a special removal tool on their web site to remove any stray registry keys, or components that might be left behind by the uninstaller.)
If ASPI is broken (use aspichk.exe) consider using ForceASPI (4.60a aspi layer, Adaptects latest 4.7x versions have caused many people problems.)
More info about ForceASPI: http://radified.com/ASPI/forceaspi.htm
Another possible option (for windows XP) is a system restore (assuming a restore point exists before you made the changes).
good luckSome people say dog is mans best friend. I say that man is dog's best slave... At least that is what my dogs think. -
Skith found what I was talking about. It isn't exactly a removal tool. Sorry.

i uninstalled every burn app includeing plextools and dvd
decrypt. apon startup i put in dvd movie again and computer freezes, i left dvd in drive and rebooted and computer froze before it got to logon screen....i must be having ide channel problems/driver problems based on this at lest thats what i suspect. so ill try some older drivers off the nvidia site. -
ok tiny update here, i tried putting a cd in my other drive and it works fine. do i have another bad dvd drive? it won't read or write. aspi is fine, my drivers "SHOULD BE
" fine. if one drive is working i don't know why the other wouldn't be. dma is fine. what should i be doing right now? trying dvd on secondary channel is going to be my dreaded next step(had computer opened and unplugged about 20x this week.
