Hi,
My Sony DW-D22a says it supports 'EP mode' to get up to 4 hrs. Anyone know how can I make use of this?
Also I am wondering if dual-layer DVD's will work in all players like commercially-made ones.

No, DVD-DL discs are not compatible with all players. They suffer from the same issues as -R and +R discs...only worse.
You can get more video onto a DVD by using any number of the apps listed here to re-encode your files at a lower bit rate.Google is your Friend
