  1. OK, so I figure I'll upgrade. Download and install the latest ffdshow, which I do use rarely.
I open mainconcept, load my (huffyuv encoded) video, and ffdshow pops up in the taskbar.
WTF? I have nothing ticked, checked or enabled.
    I figure it's a new ffdshow thing...
Start my encode...it's gonna take HOW long?
    Double the encoding time.
This sucks. What's up with this?
    OK, we'll try Canopus...same crap.
I could see if I had 3 or 4 filters enabled, but nothing, and it's still doubling (or more) my encoding times?
I end up frameserving from virtualdub to mainconcept...what's this? No ffdshow?
What is going on? How do I stop it (short of uninstalling it) from loading EVERY time I try to encode an avi.
    Cheers, Jim

Sounds like you checked off FFDSHOW to be used for audio decoding/encoding. Uncheck the choices under the start menu/programs/ffdshow

  3. Nothing is checked off, nowhere.
There's nothing I can find that ENables ffdshow to do anything at any time, yet it always opens.
Maybe a slightly more in depth hint please?

So you don't have ffdshow enabled to decode anything? I would suggest that you just uninstall it then.

  5. I do use it, the odd time...postprocessing some of my captures. I just don't want it taking control.
I can enable it in my PVR software for that.
