  4. Popcorn 1.0.2 is about 20% faster then the older version. It does have some changes to the compression to fix some playback problems and closed captions, but besides that I'm not aware of any other changes.

As for DVD2OneX and Popcorn, I would say in most cases that one will not notice any difference in compression quality. DTOX does give more options, but Popcorn can burn and is much easier to use.

Popcorn has been getting much higher reviews then DTOX recently also because it is cheaper.

    .... but they say DVD2OneX is a lot faster ....... ?

[I would go w/Popcorn if the speed was the same, or it had BETTER video quality ....]

    oh well.

  7. Well, my experiences is that the speed of DTOX and Popcorn are pretty close to the same. Depending on the content, Popcorn can be faster. On other content DTOX is faster.

However, Popcorn 1.0.2 is at least 20% faster then Popcorn 1.0.1 so I would say that Popcorn and DTOX are about the same speed now.

That bit of arithmetic only works if Popcorn was only 20% slower than dvd2onex to start with. Unfortunately you'd have a hard time convincing some of us (including MacWorld, evidently) that that is actually true

  10. I find DTOX's quality far superior.
I did a full disc copy w/ Popcorn of a TV show--only two eps on the disc--and they were jerky and unwatchable.

    DTOX was lovely as always.

it seems that popcorn's advantange is it's simplicity and burning integration ..... but the thing is, if it lacks even slight quality w/dtox, I'd rather do it the mtr/dtox/toast way ...... :X
