I need some advice. I currently own a Sony VAIO A-290 laptop. My computer came with the A/V Dock which can record TV using Giga Pocket.
I record TV programs from my Dish Network box using the S-video and audio cables. This is recorded in the Giga Pocket and stored in the Giga Pocket Explorer as MPEG files. I then export the programs to Click To DVD where I am able to edit out the commercials. The version of Click To DVD that I have is 1.0 It is easy to edit out the commercials using the Click To DVD software.
The problem is the time it takes to burn the DVD's To burn a 4.6GB size file it takes over an hour. My laptop has a 4X burner and I am using the Ridata 8X DVD-R discs. Is there a better way to do this. Would using the new Sony VRD DVD recorder make things faster. Are there better software than the Giga Pocket or Click To DVD to use with my Sony laptop. Thanks

That is not an unusual processing time. The time is taken up doing the video processing not the DVD burning. To speed the process significantly you would need a faster computer. Adding a 8x vs 4x burner would only reduce the time by a few minutes.
There are many other software options but I wouldn't expect major processing time reduction.
