  1. I used WinAvi to convert a DivX file and then opened the folder I created in DVD Shrink. Everything seemed to be going well as the video was present in the preview window but when I played the dvd in my standalone I got no picture or sound but the dvd was playing because the digital counter was moving normally.
I'm thinking it may be a Disc Region issue as I set WinAvi to convert to NTSC but by default it may be creating NTSC files related to another region code. Has anyone else had this problem and how do I solve it?

  3. I've already tried VSO divxtodvd and it couldn't convert the file. WinAvi did convert it as the preview window indicates. My problem is with the authoring of the dvd files it created. Hopefully, someone knowledgeable can help.

does the dvd work on your computer with a software dvd player?
tried burned with something else like copytodvd?

and region code has nothing to do with ntsc or pal. winavi makes it region free.

Files play fine on my pc with Power DVD and have tried burning with Nero but I get the same results. I know by looking at the dvd that there's information burned to it but when I had a similar problem using VSO, it turned out to be that it had been encoded as PAL and I had to click "force NTSC". The only difference was that as a PAL disc, it played on my standalone player whereas the discs I've done with WinAvi don't show at all.
