  1. Hello all,

I have tried searching the forum for the answer to my problem but I just cant find anything that has help so I am appealing to anyone who can help.

I have several MPG's that I want to run through TMPGenc. Whenever I open them I get that "File cannot open or unsupported". I changed the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader to 2 (top of the list) and I still get the message.

I can play the MPG fine in Windows MediaPlayer.

I put the MPG into Gspot and it rendered fine. Told me it was RIFF/CDXA MPG.

    The files come from SVCD's.

I have used ISOBUSTER to extract the file but still no joy.

I have run the files through DVD2AVI and that works fine, but again I cant open the results in TMPGEnc.

I can use TMPGEnc for other files, ie XVID and VCD with no problems!!

I am pulling out my hair and dont have much left. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated!!

    Thanks

    Richard

PS if anyone needs any more info let me know.

Yes, TMPGEnc can't read mpeg2 (if that's what you've got). By installing PowerDVD, TMPGEnc can use the decoder from PowerDVD (which is left in your system even after you've uninstalled the demo version).

  8. TMPGEnc now excepts it when frameserving through virtualdub. Will check the output. Fingers crossed everything is ok! Thanks alot everyone.

You may have needed to increase the priority of the "Cyberlink MPEG-2 decoder" to get it to work that way.
    If in doubt, Google it.
