I tried the Moonlight oneclick compressor to encode from avi to H264.
The image quality seems to be quite good but the sound is no good .
It "hisses" (it's like a bench of birds crying)
Also the normal MPEG2 encoded movie has the same bad sound?
Is there anyone else with this problem ?

Seem to recall that moonlight uses MPEG/TS as a container and mp2 for audio. I would suggest that you use aac audio and an mp4 container instead. This would mean encoding the audio seperatly and remuxing or using different software.
