Strange mpegs problem. Help ?

With certain mpegs that I am trying to play I get this weird problem:
The tracer bar moves to fast ... like, ok say the file is 10 min long. The tracer will get to the end of the bar after say 2 minutes and then the video stops. Then say I click to drag the tracer back a bit, I'll be farther into the video, not at the part that was playing when the tracer passed there before and depending where I click on the tracer bar I'll be at different places in the video file. This hapens with certain files only, no matter wath player I use. Any hint on whats causing the problem and/or what ( free ) tool I can use to fix the files ?

If this issue was adressed before, accept my apologies and kindly indicate the apropriate thread plz.

Could be your player. Sometimes WMP10 does the same thing for me, but plays fine in my pc dvd software.

Dont think so, the same happens weather I play 'em in WMP, BSPlayer, Winamp or DIVXPlayer . . . What I need I guess is sunthing to fix the file cuz all the information is in there, it just wont come out correctly . . .

Sounds to me like the file might not be indexed properly.

I take it you've looked at the tools listed in the tools section under Video Repair & Fix ?
