I've been looking at clips for the new XBox and the vids play within IE WMP but are stired in the temporary internet files folder as DAT files.

I've tried pretty much every tool I have and also tried suggestions here to burn with Nero to VCD or use Isobuster to extract an mpeg. Nothing gives....

How do I convert these to avi or mpeg?

    Regards,

    Rob

    They're WMVs.

Right-click the video window (within the browser), choose properties and copy the URL (Location and paste into browser address bar.

Download the .ASX and open it in a text editor. Copy the URL (in the case of the link you provided, it's mms://wm.microsoft.com/ms/xbox/video/forza/Forza-e32004-001-Hi.wmv) and use whatever you want to download. IE has a problem downloading MMS streams so use a download manager of your choice. Using FlashGet and that particular file you will end up with a 10.8MB WMV called 'Forza-e32004-001-Hi.wmv'.
