My DVD player (DK Digital DVD 915) can play Divx files and support subtitles (.ssa, .sub, .srt). The problem is that it doesn't display all the words, with some text being cut off by the bottom of the screen. Is there a way to edit the subtitles, or adjust the settings, to prevent this from happening?

can't you change the subtitle location in the dvd player settings? srt does not have any locations settings so you must change it in the player you are using.

    hi

my advice is to convert the srt to xsub using srt2bmp and then mux the xsub into the avi, and by doing this creating a divx media formate file, dont worry because if your divx player is divx certified it will play your movie and subs perfectly.

    xsub is customazible

you can find srt2bmp here(you will nedd the fuse tool)

I was able to mux xsub with avi and it can be played by DivX Player. But the subtitle doesn't look nice, though the bitmaps were good.

My avi file was 704x384 without black bars. The bmp was made by srt2bmp using the same resolution. And I set it to show in the blackbar(??)

DivX player seems resize the bmp so that it is put within the video resoultion (rather than in the expanded black bar, even in full screen mode).

Will it displayed okie in hardware player which support divx?

Every current DivX certified player should support xsub playback. I find it odd though that it would render textsubs so that they are cut off though.

My player displays upto 3 lines of subs, shifting the vertical position of the subs depending on the number of lines so that it is never cut off, whilst not covering up too much video if it doesn't need to.

when creating the xsub set it to appear just "on top" of the black bars and when viewing it on 4:3 tv they will appearom the black bars , when viewing it on a 16:9 tv they will appear on the bottom of the picture
I love it when a plan comes together!
